Tucson will host the Arizona Senior Regional, formerly the Mesa Roadrunner Senior Regional, February 26-March 4, 2018. It will be held at the Tucson Expo Center, 3750 E. Irvington Road, Tucson, Arizona.
The Tucson Expo Center is conveniently located less than five miles from the Tucson International Airport and only minutes from I-10. It provides ample free parking and disability spaces. The playing area is open and expansive, as well as carpeted, quiet, and well-lit.
Affordable hotel accommodations such as the Comfort Inn and Suites and The Quality Inn and Suites are within walking distance and offer players discounted rates. (See our ad in this issue of ScoreCard.) Many restaurants and fast food options are nearby.
The Arizona Senior Regional has a new schedule, ideal for all players, that includes five days of Gold Rush Pairs and Knockout Teams with a Compact KO on Saturday, teams games, Open Pairs, Swiss Teams and Side Game Series. With the exception of Monday evening, there will be no night games.
Free lectures will be held Tuesday through Friday at 1:30 p.m. Complimentary coffee will be provided along with lox, bagels and cream cheese, and pastries each morning and premium candy each afternoon. A free lunch along with beverages and dessert will be provided on Sunday.
With the exception of the afternoon charity pairs game on Monday and the afternoon Swiss Teams Wednesday through Friday, players must be born before January 1, 1959 to participate.
